Google Login Disruption: What Happened and What We Are Doing
Some users are experiencing issues logging in with Google. Here is a transparent explanation of what is happening and the current status.
We want to be transparent about a disruption some users are experiencing when trying to log in to Kulega with their Google account.
What is happening
Google requires all applications that use OAuth — the standard behind "Login with Google" — to go through an app verification process before they can be used by the general public.
This process involves Google reviewing:
- The application and its intended use
- How user data is accessed and handled
- Our privacy policy and data handling practices
We submitted Kulega for verification and are currently waiting for Google's review to complete. Until it is approved, new users attempting to log in with Google may see a warning screen stating that the app has not been verified.
What you can do right now
You have two options while we wait for verification:
- Continue with Google (safe to do) — If you see the warning screen, click "Advanced" then "Go to Kulega (unsafe)". Despite the wording, this is standard for any app pending verification. Your account and data remain fully secure.
- Sign up with email and password — This path is fully functional and does not depend on Google verification status at all.
Current status
Our Google verification application is under review. We are working with Google to complete this as quickly as possible.
Once approved:
- The warning screen will no longer appear
- Google login will work seamlessly for all users
- This post will be updated to reflect the resolution
We apologise for any friction this causes during sign-up. If you have questions or need help accessing your account, reach out to us at hello@kulega.com — we will get back to you promptly.
